Since this restaurant group is opening a Guanabana in Alvor soon, we decided to try the relatively new location in nearby Lagos. The decor is very festive with several murals on the wall, numerous hanging baskets of plastic flowers, and shelves filled with decorative tequila bottles. There is comfortable seating inside and on the busy cobblestone pedestrian street outside. The service was fast and friendly. Most of the food was good with some hits and some misses on authentic Mexican flavors but overall flavorful. The Pollo Al Pastor Tacos were served very wet, soaking the tortillas with sauce and sour cream, and the chicken was cold. The flavors were good but they could use some help to improve the dish. The server tried to explain away the errors by saying it wasn't a good recipe for the winter as the colder temperatures are what caused the chicken to be cold??? I had the Burrito California which was very good, well prepared and presented, and the Guacamole and Totopos (Tortilla chips) were okay, The Avocados were fresh but the guacamole could have used more seasoning, and the chips were the typical bagged "Doritos" style served in most "Mexican" restaurants in Portugal. The staff and manager were very apologetic about the error with the tacos and promptly removed them from our bill. I also had the Tommy's Margarita which was flavorful but felt a little light on the tequila. 4.0/5.0
